New Crossroads Ministry Centre Fit Out

In an exciting move, Crossroads has signed a lease for a new ministry centre in Belconnen. It will be bigger and better than our current rental space and will give us scope to accommodate far more of our ministry.

There are of course costs associated with setting up and fitting out a new premises, but we think it will be more than worth it. As such we’re asking the Crossroads family to contribute to this special “New Ministry Centre” campaign.

The overall cost will be around $300,000, with the owner committed to covering $120,000. This means we need to raise $180,000 to see the place ready for ministry into next year.

Will you consider how you can support this campaign and in so doing, support the work of the Gospel?
Will you please pray that the new Ministry Centre is used as a terrific base to see more disciples growing in honour of Jesus?

Frequently Asked Questions:
What’s the address of the new facility?
Level 1, 8 Chandler Street, Belconnen, ACT 2617
Opposite Westfield and above Centrelink.
When will it be ready?
We’re hoping that by 1 Feb 2025 the work will have been completed and we’re all moved in.
How will the new venue be used?
There are many ministries run by Crossroads during the week that we have not been able to accommodate in our own space. This has cost us both time and money, especially when those venues are unavailable to us. We believe many of our ministries will benefit including KidsBlast, Crossfire, mid-week Bible Studies, Connect Series, Jesus on Life, training events, prayer meetings etc. with possibilities for more.
Why are we moving from our current ministry centre in Lyneham?
The owner has indicated that he wants to sell the property and our current rental agreement is coming to an end. However, the main reason for moving is that we simply do not have adequate space to accommodate our current ministry needs, let alone the ministry we could be doing. A more suitable ministry space will simplify, centralise and improve our work and will save us from having to hire other venues.
How does this lease and fit-out impact the plans for Crossroads to have its own building one day?
We still intend to pursue a building of our own in the future, one that will accommodate congregations across Sundays and be a base for ministry operations throughout the week. But we are not ready for this yet. Securing this new lease is an interim step as we expand and better resource the overall ministry. It will also help us as we think through future fundraising our own building would require.
Will we run a congregation in the new ministry centre?
The Ministry Centre is not large enough to accommodate either of our morning congregations as it does not have the capacity for Kids@Church and Youth@church as well as a congregation. However, we are exploring the possibility of our Lake G (PM) congregation using it.
Why is the owner contributing $120,000 for the fit-out?
This was part of the incentive to lease the space in the contract.
What if we don't raise enough money for the fit-out?
If this happens we will have to use some of  Crossroads’ reserve funds to cover it.
What if we raise too much money?
Excess funds will be set aside for the purchase of our own facility in the future.
Why didn’t we budget for the fit-out?
This is a one-off venture that sits outside our regular ministry expenses. We thought it best to raise funds specifically rather than increase our overall budget significantly for one year.
How will the new venue be used?
There are many ministries run by Crossroads during the week that we have not been able to accommodate in our own space. This has cost us both time and money, especially when those venues are unavailable to us. Some ministries that we envision moving to this space include KidsBlast, Crossfire, mid-week Bible Studies, Connect Series, Jesus on Life, training events as well as our family meetings such as our AGM and Budget Meetings.
Can people support the new ministry centre in other ways?
Yes! We will need volunteers to help with the move as well as clean both the new space to be ready for the launch as well as the Lyneham office to hand back to the owner. Please contact Debbie Choi for more details: debbie@crossroads.asn.au.
What does the budget breakdown look like?
See below for a general breakdown of the fit-out budget. Please contact Debbie Choi for more details: debbie@crossroads.asn.au
